Harold R. Baer -SK – KE3TM
April 22, 1928 – March 12, 2014
Harold R. Baer, 85, of Camp Hill, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away on Wednesday March 12, 2014 at Golden Living West Shore.
Born on April 22, 1928 in Hershey, PA, he was the son of the late Maurice C. and Kathryn E. (Baum) Baer. He was the widower of Naomi (Schneider) Baer with whom he shared almost 51 years of marriage. Naomi predeceased him in 2001.
He was a graduate of Hummelstown High School and Lebanon Valley College.
Harold was a proud US Navy Veteran and retired with a rank of LCDR.
He was a Retired Social Studies Teacher at Camp Hill High School and a member of Cumberland Co. Chapter Pennsylvania Assoc. of School Retirees.
Harold was a member of Lowther Manor Lodge #781 F&AM, Camp Hill; Eastern Star Chapter No. 509, Hershey, Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter No. 21, Harrisburg; Forest No. 43 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and was past president of the Harrisburg Chapter #76 National Sojourners.
He was a member of the Middletown Anglers and Hunters.
Harold was an Advanced Class Amateur Radio Operator, previous call N3LZH and member of American Radio Relay League.
He is survived by a son, Richard L. Baer and his wife Suzann, of Dillsburg; one daughter, Linda L. Still and her husband David, of Camp Hill; three grandchildren, Nathan Baer, Heather Baer, and Adam Still; one great granddaughter, Alanna Witmer; and two sisters, Jean Weaver and Verna Lebo.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday March 17, 2014 in the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, with the Rev. James Law officiating. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
