March 14 1920 – March 27 2008

Joseph A. Macko, Sr., 88, of West Hanover Twp., died Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Harrisburg Hospital.

He was the widower of Helen J. Macko and is survived by his children, Randy S. Macko of Halifax, Amy K. Greish of Lower Paxton Twp., Bonnie E. Kisler of Dillsburg, Karen A. Macko of Plantation and Joseph A. Macko, Jr. of Bel Air, MD; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter.

He was the retired owner and operator of Macko Radio and T.V., Harrisburg; a retired computer engineer and technician for Diversified Data Systems, Camp Hill; was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the China-Burma-India Theater;

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, volunteered on the Bingo committee and maintained the Bingo computer system.

He was a Ham Radio Operator using call sign “W3HQA” with the Roosters, Old Fogies and the Old Buzzards clubs.

He was a Past Commander of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association; and First Degree Knight of Holy Rosary Council No. 869 Knights of Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 11 a.m., in Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lower Paxton Twp., with Rev. Andrew J. Stahmer as celebrant. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10-11 a.m., in the church.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17112.
